Gleefully macabre: Tampa horror author Jeff Strand to release latest novel for teens – HORROR NEWS

“A delightfully ludicrous read.” — School Library Journal

“Strand’s stream-of-consciousness meta-hilarity, including an intermission (“Take a break and read The Hunger Games again”), alternate scenes, a quiz, book-report assistance, editor notes, and a nudge for readers to rate the book five stars online….it’s just the thing for teen wiseacres.”– Booklist

“A snarky and self-aware tone, casual descriptions of mayhem, and narrative tricks… contribute to the lunatic atmosphere of this free-wheeling dark comedy that starts off running and doesn’t stop until all plausibility is exhausted. Sam Raimi fans should eat it up.” – Publisher’s Weekly

“For a reader intentionally seeking a wacky horror/comedy, this book delivers.”–VOYA

“Jeff Strand is the funniest writer in the game, and A BAD DAY FOR VOODOO is wicked, wicked fun. Dark, devious and delicious!” –Jonathan Maberry, New York Times bestselling author of ROT & RUIN and FLESH & BONE

“Jeff Strand is one of the most diverse horror writers out there…another one of his great books to add to his great line of great books.”– Blogger Horror Bob, The Horror Review

“When I thought the pace was about to die down, there was some insane plot twist that either had me laughing or had my mouth gaped in disbelief and horror.” — YA Books Beyond the Cover

Tampa horror author Jeff Strand, known as the ‘funniest writer in the game’ by critics, beloved by teen readers, and a Junior Library Guild favorite, is releasing his second YA novel, I Have a Bad  Feeling  About This, March 2014. With two Junior Library Guild picks under his belt and a fandom surrounding his work in the horror genre, Strand is a force to be reckoned with.

I Have A Bad Feeling About This is a hysterical novel about one outcast’s summer adventure, and a gut-busting romp through a summer camp that doesn’t feel too far removed from the zombie apocalypse. A perfect read to gear teen boys up for summer, (or remind them of warmer days) or for anyone who likes a laugh-out-loud, coming of age storyline. As Kirkus reviews nicely puts, “It’s funny, and the gags turn in unexpected directions and would do Saturday Night Live skits proud.”

JEFF STRAND is a three-time nominee for the Bram Stoker Award, and both of his YA books, A Bad Day for VooDoo and I Have A Bad Feeling About This are both Junior Library Guild Picks. Jeff lives in Tampa, Florida, and would last approximately three seconds in a true survival situation. But he’s okay with that, because he mostly just types stuff in a safe bear-free environment. About the Book

Everything 16-year-old Henry was dreading about survival camp turns out to be true—or even worse. The only thing to help get him through is his equally un-athletic best friend Randy and the discovery of a girls’ music camp just down the path. But they’ll soon have a lot more than obnoxious “drill counselors” and too many push-ups to worry about. The owner of Strongwoods Survival Camp has taken out some loans with very dangerous men to keep himself afloat, and when a trio of them show up to collect, things go bad. Very bad. With a camp now full of armed killers, survival now has a whole new meaning for the campers…
