Emmanuel Tagoe, 32-1, 15 KO’s, avoided the early incoming from Mason Menard, 36-5, 25 KO’s, to take full control of the fight and take the easy unanimous decision in a workmanlike performance but not a very impressive one.
Tagoe started the fight landing from the outside and holding on when Menard got close. The holding was excessive, but it didn’t last as Tagoe began to just pot-shot from the outside and control the slower and plodding brawler.
In the 8th round, Tagoe would hurt Menard and the round would go four minutes due to an oversight by the timekeeper. He survived and Tagoe didn’t really press his advantage. Tagoe took off the final round for sure and Menard tried to press, but he just doesn’t know how to set up his shots. He allowed Tagoe to tie him up at every turn and he never got going.
Tagoe would take the majority decision by scores of 95-95, 98-92 and 96-94. It was pretty clear that he won but he wasn’t very impressive.
