Former super middleweight, Edwin Rodriguez, 31-2, 20 KO’s, returned to the ring as a 200 pound cruiserweight and looked very soft in his dominant battle win over Mitch Williams, 16-7-3, 11 KO’s, by scores of 96-94 (twice) and 98-92.
A left hook to the body would hurt Williams in round four, but he would survive, but all the steam would be out of his punches. Rodriguez, usually an action fighter, was a slow plodder that used his superior skillset to take the majority of the rounds and the victory, but the cruiserweight division doesn’t seem right for him at this point.
