The wealthy, Sheila Morris (Janet Agren) is questioned by the police as it seems her sister, Diana Morris (Paula Senatore) has been involved with a cult that are responsible for the murder of the three men, however it has been a while since Sheila has seen her sister…
The cult is led by a, Jonas Melvyn (Ivan Rassimov) and is believed to be some form of purification set that is based in New Guinea. So Sheila travels out to New Guinea in hope to find her sister and therefore on reaching New Guinea she hires an arm wrestling champ and ex Vietnam veteran, Mark Butler (Robert Kerman) Mark knows of the cult and becomes her hired guide, their destination being the jungles of New Guinea.
Again like most of these cannibal movies we yet again meet a man eating crocodile as one of their bearers fall victim to one, the other bearer seeming to have fled with all their belongings; however they soon discover the grisly truth…
The threat of the cannibals are always on the mind’s of Sheila and Mark, however the real threat comes from Jonas and his set, as they arrive at his compound…
Diana is there and on meeting, Sheila, she warns her that Jonas is a manipulative leader and very dangerous and that once you are caught in his web there is no escaping, only through death…
Yes it seems, Jonas drugs and manipulates his flock in order to control them, making believe he is some kind of vessel and like most Radical Cult groups, there seems to be an awful lot of brainwashing.
So Sheila, Mark and Diana, along with a native escape and on doing so the native his killed by the roaming cannibals, also the cannibals capture, Diana, and as a horrified Mark and Sheila watch on, Diana is raped and ate by them…
Jonas in the mean time sees the end looming as helicopters fly overhead, with armed personal, though surrender he is not prepared to and therefore orders his flock to drink the cobra venom he uses to poison his enemies with, a mass suicide…
Whenever I watch this movie I often find myself recalling the siege near Waco in Texas back in 1993, where the mad, David Koresh, along with many followers died, as well as FBI agents; it had sent shockwaves all over the world… And if I remember right one of his followers were actually from my own town, many thousands of miles from Texas, very worrying indeed…
