Hey kids, it’s the Dash-man! Let’s start off by-
Damn it, Wade! Can I at least have a conversation with my readers before you come invading my personal space?

Oh, okay cool. Well then, screw it! Let’s just get started with the review.
…Why won’t just die?
Oh, that’s why.
‘Deadpool’ is the long-awaited 2016 action-comedy based on the infamous Marvel Comics anti-hero of the same name played by Ryan Reynolds. Deadpool was created by Rob Liefeld and writer Fabian Nicieza in 1991 and is widely known for his excessive violence, obnoxious humor and uncanny ability to break the fourth wall and talk directly to the fans; hence the character’s nickname, “The Merc With The Mouth”. This is actually the second film to feature the popular character as he was previously featured in-
Riiiight! Okay, this is actually the “first” film to feature the popular character and the “first” time being played by Ryan Reynolds. The character already has a massive cult following, being featured in many other Marvel properties, as well as his own video game. However, the film managed to exceed all expectations with its positive reviews, as well as grossing over $325 Million worldwide.
Let’s be honest…while there may or “may not” have been a rocky start, Ryan Reynolds was born to play Deadpool. It’s Van Wilder in a superhero costume, and it was damn-near perfect. While I do prefer voice actor Nolan North as Deadpool from ‘Hulk vs. Wolverine’ and a good chunk of the video games, Ryan Reynolds was absolutely hilarious and I still had a great time watching him chew the scenery.
You also have the supporting cast which were all enjoyable as well. Especially, T.J. Miller as Weasel and Leslie Uggams as Blind Al who both manage to bounce back and forth with Reynolds’ comedy. Oh, and as a fellow Browncoat, it’s always nice to see Morena Baccarin.
…just saying. Anyway, since Deadpool is a mutant and this does all takes place in the X-Men Universe, we actually do get to see the X-Men. Yep, all two of them.
Hey Wade, what’s wrong with your…nevermind. Anyway, while actor Daniel Cudmore had played Colossus in previous other X-Men movies, he decided not to return for this movie and was replaced by multiple actors. Stefan Kapičić did the voice of Colossus, while other actors worked on the motion-capture performances. I have to say, the performance is a vast improvement and much closer to the comics. Then there’s Negasonic Teenage Warhead played by newcomer Brianna Hildebrand. Look, it’s 20th Century Fox. So, I’m not surprised if the studio doesn’t remain completely faithful to the X-Men Universe or if they combine multiple characters into one. However, I’d say it’s still a pretty good performance. Now, if you wanna talk about a Marvel character that was changed greatly from the comics and didn’t impress me all that much, we have Ed Skrein as Ajax. At the same time, however, maybe the joke is that there’s always a boring British villain in action movies…but still.
Really not much to say about the rest of the movie. It’s about as bloody, gory, gratuitous and extreme as you can get. Same thing can be said about the film’s comedy, it’s all raunchy and offensive goodness. My only complaint is that it still felt a bit watered-down in comparison to the comics or the video game. Obviously, there had to have been a few restrictions in order for the film to get its R rating. No doubt, there will be a lot more content ready to shock the masses once the film gets its Director’s Cut DVD release and its sequel.
Settle down, man. I gotta review to finish. Spoilers, kids! ‘Deadpool’ is already on my list for the Top 10 Best Movies of 2016. The action and the comedy is everything any fan could ever want from a Deadpool movie. Not to mention, it’s all lead by an actor that we’ve had such low expectations for from the past but who managed to give the fans what they want. Some may call it a “popcorn movie”, or a movie that’s “so bad, that it’s good”. Personally, I think this is one of the best comic book adaptations ever made. Just think about that for a second…you wanna know what other comic book movies I consider perfect? ‘Superman’, ‘Batman: Mask Of The Phantasm’, ‘The Crow’, ‘Iron Man’, ‘Guardians Of The Galaxy’ & ‘Captain America: The First Avenger’. That’s how good! ‘Deadpool’ is a prime example of what happens when the fans unite to give Hollywood a good kick in the ass.
Yeah…here’s hoping, Wade. For what’s it’s worth, I had a lot of fun watching this movie and writing this review.
Wait what? What the hell is wrong with you man?!? Oh nevermind. Well, let’s hope the rest of 2016 is just as good. Until next time, Gotta Dash!
