Interview by Geno McGahee
Days To Come is a Georgia-based hard rock band that has just released a great tune called “VULTURES”, which is just some amazing stuff. They describe themselves as “pop-styled hard rock” and that’s exactly right. This feels old and new at the same time with a definite 80’s metal feel to it. I get a lot of music sent to me to check out and I rarely find myself digging something as much as I did VULTURES.
GM: Can you introduce yourself to the public? How would you describe your band, your style, your message?
A: Justin – My name is Justin Goodson and I’m the vocalist for Days To Come. Brandon Rix is our guitarist and Jalen Hall is our drummer.
We’re a rock band that’s positive and upbeat.
GM: What got you into music?
A: Brandon – I’ve always had a musical ear since I was little. However, I couldn’t sing so I wanted to instead play an instrument. My family had a long line of guitar players, so it felt natural.
GM: What musicians/bands were your inspirations?
A: Brandon – Guns N Roses, Pink Floyd, Steve Vai, & Devin Townsend.
GM :Talk about your latest EP. What should the public expect?
A: Justin – The collection of songs on Animus come from a place of frustration and hope. The guys and I have been through things over the past year and a half and the themes of the songs are shaped around that.
GM: What has been the best experience you’ve had being in the business?
A: Jalen – Being able to play shows for people who respect and support indie bands.
GM: What has been the worst experience you’ve had?
A: Jalen – There was a show we did in Savannah, Georgia, where we were constantly yelled at for playing and talking too loud during our show. So yeah, that wasn’t too fun.
GM: With the changing mediums in the distribution of music, how difficult is it to make a living in the business?
A: Justin – It is difficult. Artists need to continue to be creative and establish solid relationships with their fan base. Not impossible, but it takes a mountain of work.
GM: Any final thoughts?
A: Brandon – Feel free to check us out at daystocomemusic.com. We’re also on all of the social sites (@daystocomemusic) and our music is on all of the major online platforms. Stream our new single, Vultures, and be on the lookout for our upcoming EP.
