We get right into some Lance Archer-Dustin Rhodes highlights and some commentary by Shawn Spears. He focused on Cody Rhodes and his refusal to stop the fight. It was ROCKY IV all over again. It was nice to see Spears getting some time. He’s great at promos.
Schiavone catches up with MJF, Spears and Wardlow. MJF and Spears are hilarious kissing up to each other. We learn that MJF is taking on Jungle Boy at Double or Nothing and that wasn’t good news for MJF.
Jon Moxley cuts through the arena to take on his opponent with the championship belt draped over his shoulder. He is coming off his big win over Jake Hager of the Inner Circle in the empty arena, no-holds barred match. Kazarian of SCU is the opponent and he starts off aggressively, using some technical wrestling to keep Moxley on the mat.
The fight turned into a brawl, which favored Moxley as he pounded Kazarian in the corners with chops and punches. A flip over the ring ropes onto the stage had Kazarian landing badly on his leg, leading to what seems to be a legit injury. He fought on and fought through it as the two battled it out on the stage, but it’s Moxley’s style of brawling and he’s easily winning it.
Kazarian is able to counter a top rope move by Moxley and land a DDT to get a near fall, but Moxley recoups and lands a great suplex to regain control of the match. Kazarian had some more moments, including another near fall, but the brawl returns and Moxley, once again, takes control.
There are tons of near falls with Kazarian doing some great work, but Moxley is hanging in there and is “tougher than a 2 dollar steak” as Jim Ross said. After a failed top rope maneuver, Kazarian was caught in the DDT and the match was over. Moxley got the 1-2-3 in a tremendous back and forth match.
Out of nowhere, the Dark Order attack Moxley. SCU ran to the rescue, but they are outnumbered. This is a statement from Brodie Lee to the champion. He wants a shot. After a terrible beating, Brodie Lee emerges and destroys Moxley. The Dark Order under Lee is so good.
Lee made his intentions clear. He wants the AEW Title and we now have the main event of Double or Nothing. What a freaking great main event!
