Combate Americas today announced the ratings for its latest television show and first-ever world lightweight championship event that garnered 530,000 live viewers on Univision and TUDN in its midnight ET time slot, last Friday, September 20, from Mexicali, B.C., Mexico.
The event delivered the second most-watched telecast in Combate Americas history, easily winning its timeslot with 47 percent (250,000) of viewers in the coveted 18-49 demographic and females comprising 48 percent of the audience.
The live television audience saw Mexico’s undefeated, 24-year-old superstar Rafa “Gifted” Garcia (11-0) of Mexicali become the first Combate Americas world lightweight (155 pounds) champion in history by earning a unanimous decision over Erick “Ghost Pepper” Gonzalez (10-4) of Los Angeles, Calif. after an action-packed, all-out war.
“Once again, Combate Americas kicks the competition to the curb,” said Campbell McLaren, Combate Americas CEO. “Young adults and females are making Friday’s at midnight on Univision and TUDN the place to be for the best in combat sports action and live entertainment.”
The Combate Americas broadcast outnumbered the viewership of Telemundo’s airing of “Titulares y Mas,” which began at 11:35 p.m. ET last Friday, just before the start of the Combate Americas broadcast, by 234,000 viewers.
