Combate Americas Ratings Victory – Big Win for MMA – MMA News

Combate Americas today announced another television ratings victory from its live event in Tucson, Ariz. on Friday, Oct. 11, with its viewership across Univision and TUDN eclipsing that of all three other MMA sports franchises that produced live television events in either primetime or late night on the same night or the following night, Saturday, Oct. 12.

“Combate Americas was, by far and away, numero uno this weekend,” said Combate Americas CEO Campbell  McLaren, “and this time we had three general market competitors airing in English, including two in primetime.”

In its midnight ET time slot, the Combate Americas live event generated a total of 411,000 total viewers on Univision, crushing the Professional Fighters League’s (PFL) total viewership of 165,000 that was produced in a primetime, 10 p.m. ET slot on ESPN 2 on the same night.

Combate Americas’ viewership also dwarfed that of Bellator, which drew 202,000 total viewers in a primetime, 9 p.m. ET slot on Paramount Network on Saturday, and that of ONE Championship, which garnered 264,000 total TNT viewers with its 100th event on Saturday.

The Univision viewership of 411,000 for the Combate Americas event marks a year-over-year increase of 30 percent from the Combate Americas show that pulled a total of 310,000 total Univision and TUDN viewers on the same Friday, and in the same midnight ET time slot last October, from the same venue – AVA Amphitheater at Casino Del Sol in Tucson.

The live Combate Americas event on Friday was headlined by a bantamweight contest that saw Joby Sanchez (13-5) of Albuquerque, N.M. defeat former world champion Jose “Pochito” Alday (13-5-1) of Tucson via Son., Hermosillo, Mexico by way of unanimous decision.
