The Devil
How fitting to choose the Devil card on Halloween. Never let it be said that the spirit guides leading the tarot don’t have a sense of humor!
In a traditional deck, The Devil depicts a version of Baphomet, the goat god, sitting above two chained naked demons. For those unfamiliar with the tarot, this card may look a bit frightening. Don’t let it disturb you. There is no demonic force with a negative hold on you. You’re not haunted – at least not by anything paranormal. For better or worse, your devils are an earthly world problem.
The demons that bind you are the negative forces within and around that push you into impulse decisions that bring long term pain. You’re driven by the immediate and right now. Anything that gives you instantaneous pleasure and a quick rush is welcome; and why not? It may have been awhile since you had any sort of joy in your life so when it appears – even from negative sources, you grab hold. When it dissolves or disappears you become lost, scared and confused. It is then, you must lean on those who love and nurture you to build you back up. Make certain to do that. You are not a burden and everyone needs a pick me up!
Now, with a trusted friend or lover who is in it for the long haul, moments of intensity are fine. Enjoy those and shower yourself in the positivity. Instead, the Devil refers to the ones who pour on momentary affection, but then disappear when things get tough or real or inconvenient. Judge a bit harsher those who leave you with an empty or unsettled feeling in your heart, mind and soul. The energy vampires and parasitic peeps, who are only in it for themselves are hurting you. Yes, you’re resilient and bounce back; but there is some residual damage that keeps sneaking up. The negative emotions are compounded when you continuously let those same selfish souls in your life again and again.
Not only are the narcissistic people in your life impacting your time and money, but more significantly it’s impacting your essence, balance and well-being. Your sympathetic and loving nature that draws these people to you is the same temperament that makes their issues, lies and negativity stick in your mind after they leave. You must cut the cord to these people. If you can’t completely cut them out of your life, limit contact.
Also, it’s important to cleanse yourself of their unwelcome energy. Whenever you have contact with them, sage or burn Palo Santo afterwards. If you feel distress, utilize a psychic self defense technique to separate yourself from their energy. One method is to close your eyes and imagine a string connecting yourself to the individual causing discomfort. Cut that string! Once done, picture yourself alone in a room. Watch as a bright white light emerges from your chest and formulates a shield around you. This will protect you and spare you any internal devils caused by external miscreants.
Lastly, remember there are those in your life who will have your back thru thick and thin. When the hurtful and inconsiderate cause you pain, find solace in the ones who have their honest and true hand out to help. They are there for you because you deserve it and because they love you. Lean on them in your times of need as you would want them to lean on you in theirs.
