Eight of Swords
The Eight of Swords in a traditional tarot deck depicts a woman blindfolded and tied up while nearly surrounded by swords stuck deeply in the ground. If her blindfold was removed she could see there was a path directly in front of her. Sadly, she can’t see the way out and instead remains a captive.
In your current circumstance, you feel trapped and unable to do what you want. This could be due to a lack of money, lack of transportation or responsibilities you feel unable to walk away from.
You are obsessed with getting out of the situation so much so that you’re not seeing the forest for the trees. Change your approach to leaving. Instead of trying to save money that simply isn’t there, find a side gig to bring in the green. With the holidays approaching, plenty of places are looking for help. Take the short-term job and get the cash you need to get where you want to go.
If the problem is transportation and acquiring a car isn’t an option, start looking at alternatives. Put a few bucks aside to take an Uber. Look at bus pass options. Hell, get a workout and use your legs. Whatever it takes to get you out from this feeling of constraint, do it.
If the issue is responsibilities, start delegating. You’re doing too much and are feeling resentment over those you intended to help. You have family or friends who can pitch in and it’s time they did. They’ve been taking advantage of your kindness for too long and you’re rightfully angry. Instead of silently stewing and feeling imprisoned by your duties, speak up. Put your cards on the table and don’t take no for an answer. You’re not in this situation alone and those not chipping in are just being lazy and disrespectful. They need a wake-up call. Once you give them one, they’ll change their tune. There’s no arguing with reason and you have been overly reasonable.
If you find yourself unhappy in your living situation or at your chosen career path and see no feasible way to leave, rest assured there is a way. You’re on the cusp of finding it so just hold on.
Once you shed some of those responsibilities, you’ll see things more clearly. You’ll have time to analyze ways out and where you want to end up. You’ll create a life-plan that works for you and provides the sense of freedom you’ve been missing. You’ll autonomy will be restored and you’ll be able to let your hair down and have some fun again. God knows, you deserve it.
