Chicago-based rock band, Chevelle, has just unleashed their CD “LA GARGOLA,” which is their seventh release and it may just be their best. Chevelle has always had this way of reaching the listener and that is prevalent here as well and it is the key to their success. The music matters and has this genuine feel to it, giving them the longevity to make it to this point and unlike many other big bands, the quality has not dipped. They have maintained and have gotten better as evident by LA GARGOLA.
LA GARGOLA features ten songs and they are paced very well. They are put in an order to where it builds up and gets more intense until it’s over. Every song is very enjoyable, but ONE OCEAN and CHOKING GAME really stand out as potential large hits.
Although Chevelle is listed as an “alternative rock” band, they have stepped into a harder territory and can be correctly listed as hard rock with this release. It still has that catchy melodic choruses to it, but you are really treated to some intensity.
Chevelle, featuring Pete Loeffler, Sam Loeffler and Dean Bernardini have taken a chance and knocked it out of the park. This is going to maintain their current fans and attract those that are into the more morbid, harder side of music.
If I was going to rate this, it would have to be a 10/10. I don’t think it would be fair not to. I’ve found myself continually listening to it. I look forward to see what Chevelle does in the future if they maintain this direction. For now, I would highly recommend the purchase of LA GARGOLA.
