I love how much Super-Hero movies have permeated the cinematic world. It’s not just an action movie genre, it’s fodder for meta-films and Oscar-bait too. Birdman (not to be confused with BIIIIIIRRRRRRRRD-MAN!) comes from director Alejandro Gonzalez Inarritu (Babel, 21 Grams) and stars Michael Keaton, Emma Stone, Naomi Watts, Edward Norton, and Zach Galifa-… Galaga-… Galifaga-…. Zach Snuffleupagus. It also features the triumphant return of Keaton’s Batman voice. According to IMDB it’s due in theaters in October of this year.
The plot follows Michael Keaton as Riggan Thompson, a washed-up actor cursed by the Super-Hero role that made him a star. In an attempt to reinvigorate his career, he takes a role in a broadway play. Apparently this leads to a half-naked wrestling match with Edward Norton (hey, I’m not complaining…).
This trailer is so utterly badass. I love how it appears that Birdman himself (itself?) is a character within Keaton’s head a la Elvis in True Romance. This movie just jumped up on my need-to-watch list.
