Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice Official Teaser – TRAILER REVIEW

After a very successful series of Batman movies under the guidance of Christopher Nolan and with Christian Bale as the caped crusader, we see the series launched again under Zack Snyder with Ben Affleck in the role. Superhero movies are often brought back over and over again with different directors, writers and stars. Batman has proven a goldmine for all involved, but the same cannot be said for Superman. MAN OF STEEL was a step in the right direction and now this new film: BATMAN V SUPERMAN: DAWN OF JUSTICE builds on and has two worlds collide with the Affleck Batman taking on the Henry Cavill Superman.

The teaser trailer for this flick is very intriguing. Superman is saving the day all over the place but he has become a subject of worship and people think that he may have too much power. Batman is suspicious of him and of his motives and now we have the one on one, superhero vs. superhero showdown…good guy vs. good guy…or maybe not. I’m not a comic book guy. So, I have no idea how this ends or why it’s happening. All I can say is that I’m siding with Batman. Superman seems like a pretentious prick.

(Poster above may not be official poster…but then again, it may be.  I’m not sure.)

I also have a question regarding this movie. Batman tends to hold a grudge. When shown a picture of the Joker, he said “oh, him again,” proving even if Superman comes around and they get along, there’s no chance they can be friends. In SUPERMAN II, Superman kisses Lois Lane to make her forget about his secret identity. Could this tactic be used to make Batman forget his hatred? We’ll have to wait and see. I also believe that Batman will know who Superman is right from jump. “Just because you wear glasses and act like you’re slow doesn’t mean that I can’t pick you out buddy.”

Overall, I am really impressed with this trailer. If nothing else, it’s a great concept and looks very dark and gritty, much like the three Nolan films. I suspect that we’re going to have a memorable film on our hands. The only concern I have is that MAN OF STEEL was good, but it seemed to be missing something. It had all the qualities a great superhero movie should have but it left me feeling empty. I’m hoping that this film will find the missing element that it needs to be the foundation for a new run of Batman films.

Bats (1999) – HORROR MOVIE REVIEW

By Geno McGahee I’m usually a big fan of horror films that involve freaks of nature, and I have contended that Lou Diamond Phillips has not made the impact on film that he probably should’ve, but he did himself no favors with his decision to be in the terrible horror […]
