Badou Jack, 28-3-3, 17 KO’s, won the WBC cruiserweight title with a 12th round knockout over defending champion, Junior Makabu, 29-3, 25 KO’s. He dominated him from the opening round, knocking him down in round 4 with a right hand and just beat the champ down systematically.
In round 11, a right hand dropped Makabu for the second time. At this point, Makabu had no hope. It can be argued that he had no hope from the opening round. Makabu had no skills and was as slow as he could possibly be. At one time, Canelo Alvarez wanted to fight Makabu and now we know why.
In the 12th round, a right hand staggered Makabu again and the referee called the fight. It was a one-side beat down and we have a new champion.
