IBF Light Heavyweight Champion, Artur Beterbiev, 13-0, 13 KO’s, survived a war with the game challenger, Callum Johnson, 17-1, 12 KO’s, with a fourth round knockout. In the first round, Beterbiev landed a shot with the challenger tangled in the ropes and dropped him late in the round. In the second round, Johnson was taking punishment and countered with a left hook that dropped Beterbiev and badly hurt him, but he survived the round. As the fight went on, the champion took control and landed some telling body shots that slowed down Johnson, leading to a crushing right hand that ended the fight.
This was a great fight and brings Beterbiev higher in the wide open light heavyweight division. It also showed that Johnson can give any of the top guys a go and has the power to change a fight at any time. A great fight.
