Lightweight Alejandro Reyes, 3-0, 2 KO’s, had a tough fight against the game Nelson Colon, 4-2, 3 KO’s, taking a four round unanimous decision by scores of 40-36 (twice) and 39-37, although the fight seemed a lot closer.
In the opening round, Colon landed some good shots and got the attention of Reyes and changed the pace. Reyes elected to box from the outside and use quantity over quality, throwing a lot more punches but not landing much. The body work that Colon was doing was apparently overlooked by the judges and they went with the house fighter. I had the fight a draw, but Reyes got the nod in a close, and sometimes ugly, fight.
