Fun!! That is the first word that comes to mind as I watched the family friendly movie “Ace Wonder – Message From a Dead Man”. The film focuses on a 10 year old boy who fancies himself a private eye right out of an old film noir movie. He is writing a comic book novel and is trying to develop his story and characters. The tale begins as the family is traveling on vacation in an RV. Gator (Ace) has hit a roadblock in his writing. He can’t figure out what the mystery should be in his book until the RV breaks down in a small town. It is there that a real life mystery is unfolding. Ace takes on the challenge to solve it and maybe even come up with material for his book.

He meets a boy a bit older than him named Derek. Derek’s genius grandfather has just passed away and he is distraught as he was pretty close to the man. Derek gets a cryptic message delivered to him at the granddad’s funeral but dismisses it. Ace’s curiosity is too much. He decrypts the clue which only leads to another one. Can Ace discover what the heck is going on before it is too late? Who can he trust? The answers will surprise you.

If you want a film that is fun to watch with everyone in the family, including the adults, “Ace Wonder” is a top notch choice. It has something for everyone. Nice locations make it interesting and the characters are as fascinating as they get in a movie. It has action, mystery and a feel good story. What more could you want in a family film?

I recommend “Ace Wonder – Message From a Dead Man” to anyone who wants to watch a movie with the kids that you haven’t seen 100 times before, such as (insert any Disney film here). Have a great family night or just grab a bowl of popcorn and soda and have yourself some down time with
“Ace Wonder – Message From a Dead Man”.

Rating: 8/10 – “What Indiana Jones must have been like as a kid”
