You really can’t go wrong with aliens, as many documentaries, TV shows and movies have shown us. We want to believe that we are not alone and when there is some potential proof, it’s easy to cling onto it. I’m one of those that believe in alien visitation although I had never been sold on crop circles. I remember the two old guys that came out and showed the world how they created them, but the crop circles became more complex and larger and the old guys could be dismissed. The idea of alien communication through crop circles became the talk among alien believers and became the focus of the documentary: A FIELD FULL OF SECRETS.
Filmmaker, Charles Maxwell, presents his study of crop circles, citing the different theories which include human production. The difference in the behavior of the crops is mentioned, and the idea of extraterrestrials creating them became more likely. If there is a message, what is it? What are the aliens trying to tell humanity? Maxwell was going to try to find out.
Maxwell teams up with Nikola Romanski, a transsexual that has created a blueprint based on the crop circles to make a flying saucer. They put years into its creation and are worried about the big oil companies taking them out as they try to develop this new energy that could change the world. In the end, it almost worked but they ran out of money and had to abandon the project. At least the UFO looked cool.
A FIELD FULL OF SECRETS starts slow but picks up as they go into the production of the disc. You watch the failures and successes and disappointment of the crew. It really is a great look at the ups and downs of creating something. They tried as hard as they could but came up short.
In the end, I definitely recommend A FIELD OF SECRETS, especially if you are a UFO fan. You will probably know a lot of the information, but it’s presented in a new way and the pursuing of their goal is worth the price of admission alone. This film was very interesting and worth a watch!
