The 1960s was known for some great sci-fi and The Film Detective, once again, has restored another classic with BATTLE OF THE WORLDS, a special edition Blu-Ray and DVD.
Like many films from this era, Earth is in danger and only a few brave people can save the day and the film gets more and more menacing as it goes on. Claude Rains does a great job as the start of this film as he always does.
At first, the planet heading to hit Earth was considered dead, but the threat increases as flying saucers get involved and I have to give credit to the filmmakers. This is a really cool looking film with some innovative effects.
BATTLE OF THE WORLDS is a great film and especially if you like this sort of 1960s sci-fi entries that were so prevalent. The Film Detective does a great job restoring this and bringing it back in top form. They obviously took their time with it and I really enjoyed the film and presentation.
