It’s main event time and the superstar, Virgil Ortiz, JR., 16-0, 16 KO’s, steps into the ring with Samuel Vargas, 31-6-2, 14 KO’s. Ortiz, JR., immediately makes his presence known, landing hard shots to the head of Vargas and rattling him. Vargas is trying to work the body.
In the second round, Vargas found some success with a sustained body attack on Ortiz, JR. Remarkably, Vargas won that second round with his aggression and approach. Ortiz, JR., didn’t do a whole lot.
The third round was a huge round for Ortiz, JR. He battered Vargas with consistent right hands. The punishment is already piling up. The fourth round was a vicious beating but Vargas recovered and did some good things at the end of the round. The referee came to the corner of Vargas to show his concern for the fighter and the threat of stoppage is there.
Vargas, arguably, won round five. It was a great comeback round for him. He worked the body and avoided the incoming. Vargas is here to fight tonight and is going to try to win late. This might be interesting as the rounds go by.
In round 7, Ortiz, JR., put Vargas in serious trouble. The fight is over. A barrage at the end of the round puts an end to the fight.
