(Warner Bros. Home Entertainment provided me with a free copy of the Blu-ray I reviewed in this blog post. The opinions I share are my own.)
On February 18th, Warner Bros. Home Entertainment will be releasing SNATCHERS on Blu-Ray Combo pack and DVD. The film is a classic horror comedy that is just a great deal of fun all around with notable performances and witty writing throughout.
Sara (Mary Nepi) is in high school and is struggling to be in the “in crowd”. After a night of sex with her semi-boyfriend, Skyler (Austin Fryberger), strange things begin to happen. She is 9 months pregnant after one day and is about to give birth to an alien baby that Skyler brought back from Mexico. It is an absurd story but that’s part of what makes this film so fun.
Teaming up with Hayley (Gabrielle Elyse), Sara does whatever she can to keep her secret away from her mother, Kate (J.J. Nolan), which leads to the release of a couple aliens determined to raise some hell. Some of the funniest moments involve J.J. Nolan in the mother role, as she tries to seem cool and comes off as very uncool. When Kate finds out that her daughter is pregnant and goes off on her, it’s comedic gold too.
SNATCHERS is just a really good film that does what it’s supposed to do. It entertains the audience from start to finish with the humor and light horror that you’d expect. I highly recommend this one.
