When it comes to superhero icons, there is not many with more popularity than Wonder Woman and, much like with Superman, the best film adaptations have been in animated form and that is certainly the case with WONDER WOMAN: BLOODLINES, coming from Warner Bros. Home Entertainment on October 22nd on just about every format across the board.
As the title “BLOODLINES” suggests, this is an origins story with Diana (Rosario Dawson) becomes the protector of the earth and begins her helpful ways to take on the many villains that will be thrown at her. There’s a certain level of humor within this film that I enjoyed. There were certain times when one-liners were thrown in with the obvious point to amuse and it did amuse me. The film had the ability to be serious and then make you laugh and that’s a pretty good thing to have in a film.
WONDER WOMAN: BLOODLINES is what you’d want it to be. It’s action-packed and true to the source material, while adding a few elements along the way. I found it very fun all around. In animation, the hands of the producers aren’t as tied with big special effects eating the budget. This is an example of what they can do when they have no boundaries. It is just a good superhero film, staying true to the darkness and grit of DC, but adding enough levity and good characters to keep you watching. I highly recommend it.
