Nikita “White Chocolate” Ababiy, 6-0, 5 KO’s, won a wide unanimous decision by scores of 60-54 from all three judges, although the fight seemed to be much closer than that. Yunier Calzada, 6-6-1, 1 KO, the opponent of choice, should have probably won the first and definitely the third round, but Ababiy did enough to secure at least 4 of the 6 rounds.
Ababiy got hit a lot in the fight and it raises some questions about his potential in the game. Calzada, having only one knockout in his 12 fights, was not much of a threat to stop the prospect. Had another fighter with power landed those shots, it may have been an interesting fight.
Ababiy noted that he was sick during the week and that he wasn’t 100 percent. A win is a win though and he is still a fighter to watch.
