THE RUNNING DEAD (2012) – ZOMBIE/HORROR Movie Review

Post apocalyptic Zombie horror, that is set just over a year after an outbreak that brought the living back to life… Survivor, Elvis (Scott Peat) plans to leave the mainland and head for an island that is hopefully zombie free, he is joined by Tweeter (Marissa Merritt) and her companion, a young boy named, Cody. They manage to secure a boat and head out to the chosen island, however poor, Cody being bitten as there is a zombie aboard the boat, leaving Elvis and Tweeter to escape to the island.

Their destination isn’t exactly what they imagined, as the island as other human occupants in which are trying to survive upon an island that is swarming with the living dead (No surprise there.)

As for the human occupants, they have built a fortress that is being governed by, Kurt Conrad (James C Burns) a control freak, especially where is daughter is concerned, is daughter being, Rachel Conrad (Corsica Wilson).

This community as some dark secrets and as regards that secret, you must have a purpose within the community otherwise you would soon find out what that dark secret is… Elvis, is an ex paramedic, so is a worthy addition, as for Tweeter, she is asked to befriend Kurt’s Daughter, who is feeling isolated within the community. Rachel wants off the island and has been saving food supplies…

And like most zombie movies, as human relations begin to breakdown, they take their eye off the threat of the living dead, therefore the compound is breached and it becomes a battle for survival…

One interesting point within this movie being, if you did not have a purpose within the community, what becomes of you, let’s just say zombies are not the only ones who need meat… That being one of the only interesting points within this movie that at times lacked good characterisation, most of the characters within the movie just seeming to be in there just to make up the numbers without much purpose apart from being killed and it amazed me how the zombies were being referred to as, “Walkers” and where have we heard that said, definitely from a series that leaves the likes of this movie in its shadows.

It just leaves me to rate this movie…
